Alanya is an important city with its large beaches, tourist establishments and historical remains. The first things vvelcomes the visitors is the Selçuklu Castler built like a crown above Alanya Peninsula.
The well protected double-walls of the castle are protected by 150 towers. There are the ruins of a mosque as well as a caravanserai and a covered bazaar at the outer walls besides a ruined cistern and a Byzantine church at the inner part. Despite Alanya dates back to the Roman period, the most splendor period of Alanya was during Alaeddin Keykubat who moved his naval base and accommodation place here for winters.
The buildings reflect the importance of the city during the Seljuks period. In addition to the attractive castle, the unmatched shipyard and the octagonal Red Tower (Kızıl Kule) that has a monumental beauty must be seen. Alanya is a perfect holiday center with the modern hotels and motels, countless fish restaurants, cafes and bars. The cafes and bars surround the harbor. The boutiques selling handicrafts, leather, garment, jewelry, handbags and gourds decorated with interesting colors, as a peculiarity of the region, line up along the harbor way. The Alanya International Folklore Festival held every august bring a different dynamism to the city of Turkey 🙂
